Join PTSA, Volunteer, Donate, Attend

We encourage all families to get involved in whatever way fits them best. You can:

  • Become a Meany PTSA Member! (A new membership sign-up is required annually.)

  • Volunteer your time. Participate in building meetings, the race and equity committee, Special Education gatherings, supporting student clubs and after-school activities, helping out at school events, volunteering in the classroom, and chaperoning on field trips.

  • Attend events. More than most things at this age, simply spending time with our kids counts a lot. Stay connected and stay proud of your student by attending Meany athletics, performances, and other events.

  • Donate financially.

  • Stay in touch. Subscribe to the Meany PTSA Newsletter to stay informed about events and other important details about Meany.

Join the PTSA

Meany has a dedicated and active PTSA that works hard to support the students, teachers, and staff through communications, programing, and fundraising.

The PTSA:

  • Organizes community-building events to strengthen connections.

  • Facilitates school-to-home connections.

  • Keeps families informed about what is happening in and around school.

  • Coordinates volunteer efforts to benefit all Meany Middle School students.

  • Is lead by the Meany PTSA Board. The board has regular planning meetings which are open to anyone within the Meany Middle School community (parents, students, teachers, staff).

  • Approves an annual budget.

All families are welcome at PTSA meetings and school events regardless of membership status. Becoming a member enables us to maintain standing as a formal/legal PTSA organization and a designated 501c3 (non-profit) organization. Your membership fee is not a donation to the Meany Middle School PTSA. Membership affords you voting rights as well as an affiliation with the WA State PTA and National PTA.

VOLUNTEER

Each year, there are several opportunities to volunteer, whether in the classroom, at events, or from home.

Attend EVENTS

Each new year, we build a calendar of great events to engage families and communities in our school. Most years, these include a picnic at the start of school, a twice-annual art show, talent show, Spring musical, and multi-cultural potluck. In addition, Meany sports teams have regular games and matches.

Donate

Money raised by the PTSA helps pay for things like department and classroom grants for the teachers, supplemental teaching materials, professional development, community events, after school programs, family support services and more.

Meany PTSA does just one main fundraiser each year — the Meany Annual Fund. We don’t do an auction like some schools. Meany PTSA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so all donations are tax deductible.
